Ometeotl was the Aztecs’ original creator deity. Ometeotl was a binary god comprised of the husband and wife duo Ometecuhtli and Omecihuatl who was responsible for the creation of the universe. After creating themselves and four of the most powerful gods of the pantheon (Tlaloc, Quetzalcoatl, Tezcatlipoca, and Huitzilopochtli), they left to reside in the highest heaven, the Place of Duality, better known as the 13th Heaven.
