America Got Back With Her Ex

As you probably already know, Trump was re-elected. I did not want to bring politics into my creative space but it would’ve been hypocritical of me not to talk about it since my entire work in the past 5 years has been about empowering and uplifting women. What I want to talk about is the implications of a man like him winning the election of the most powerful country in the world. What does it say about our society? What are we telling girls and women when half of the country voted for a person who has been found ‘liable” for sexual abuse? And let’s not mention his cabinet selections full of men who have been accused of sexual misconduct. When we elect people such as D.T., the message we are sending to the world, specifically women is that men, no matter what they do, will continue to hold positions of power without any repercussions. Yes, I am devastated and disillusioned that my country voted this way but I also like to think that I understand why they voted this way and I’d like to explain.

America is a battered girlfriend suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. The inequality gap in the U.S. is just too big to keep ignoring and it showed in the polls. People are tired, people are scared, people are angry that no matter how much they work and try to get ahead, they get nowhere. Non-college educated citizens have been left behind and neglected by a system that only rewards the educated upper class. The working class made their voices heard this election and voted for someone who was able to understand their despair and their fears and used it to his advantage just as any abuser does to his victim. Yes, America got back with her abusive ex. And in case you’re not familiar with America's abusive relationship, let me tell you.

The first thing an abuser does is “love bomb” its victim with false promises of true love and a new life. A life full of new opportunities and bright horizons. She hears words that she has never heard before because most of her life she has been disrespected, marginalized, and ridiculed. This is the first time she feels seen and heard and so she falls stupidly in love. The abuser knows this very well and manipulates her by telling her everything she wants to hear to gain full control of her. There are signs, big red flags everywhere but she ignores them because she lives in a fantasy world, many years of abuse have distorted her reality,  and she wants to believe that things will finally change, she wholeheartedly believes in the possibility of a better life for god’s sake, she believes in love! But slowly the abuser strips her of her power, her dignity, and any feeling of self-worth. And he even makes her believe that she deserves it because she is stupid and doesn’t work hard enough. America has been abused for many years and it has forgotten what real love can be, or maybe it has never experienced real love and that is why she doesn't know about love. And consequently, America has fallen victim to the illusion of hope and prosperity and conveniently ignored the red flags of fear, hate, misogyny, and autocracy. She betrayed herself for a promise she knew deep down it was a farce.

According to the National Domestic Hotline, it takes an average of 7 times for a survivor of domestic violence to leave their abuser. America is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, she not only believes in her abuser but she regards him as her savior! I genuinely thought women were going to save America in this election but I forgot that it takes an average of 7 times... So my plead is for the women who can see beyond the lies and the farce to help and support the women who turn a blind eye to the abuse only for better gas prices and cheaper eggs, and the ever-enticing comfort of “safety” over freedom. STAYING WITH YOUR ABUSER, WILL NEVER MAKE THINGS BETTER. More than ever before, we need to stand united as women and stop blaming the victim.

And that is why I felt compelled to do the Phoenix Upsiring Collection. The Phoenix Uprising Collection is a celebration of the unstoppable spirit that rises from the ashes and soars toward limitless possibility. Inspired by the timeless symbol of the phoenix, each handcrafted piece embodies themes of REVOLUTION, RESILIENCE, and HOPE. This collection is more than jewelry—it’s a reflection of our collective resistance, our courage, and our power to transform and thrive. Every bead, every curve, every luminous detail tells a story of rising above and stepping boldly into the light of our truth.

Each design in this collection is named after an ideal that fuels the fires of transformation—IMAGINATION, HOPE, LIBERATION, REVOLUTION, and ENLIGHTENMENT. These aren’t just words; they are calls to action, reminders of the strength within us as women, and invitations to embrace the power of change for our country. From bold, fiery designs that echo the energy of rebellion to soft, luminous tones that symbolize renewal, every piece carries the essence of a REVOLUTION—personal and collective.

When you wear a piece from this collection, you’re not just wearing jewelry—you’re carrying a symbol of your strength, resilience, and the infinite possibilities within you. The phoenix reminds us all: that even in the face of challenges, we have the power to rise, to transform, and to shine brighter than ever before. This is our uprising!
